Two killed in lightning strike in Lama

Two people were killed in a sudden lightning strike in Lama upazila of Bandarban. The incident took place in Phansiakhali union of the upazila on Monday afternoon.
The deceased are Mong Pru Marma (40), son of the late Khyang Chi Marma, a resident of Headman Para of Phansiakhali union of Lama upazila. And Mohammad Sajib (11), son of Sadek, a resident of Barachonkhola Purba Para of the same union.
It is known that on Monday afternoon at 5 pm, Mong Pru Marma was suddenly struck by lightning on his way to Headman Para and died on the spot. On the other hand, at the same time, child Mohammad Sajib was seriously injured in a lightning strike while playing outside his house in Barachonkhola area of Phansiakhali Union. Family members quickly rescued him and took him to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Meanwhile, the death of two people due to sudden lightning has cast a shadow of grief over the families of the victims and the area.
Meanwhile, Lama Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Kaisar Hamid confirmed the incident and said that two people died due to lightning strike. He said that the bodies have been handed over to the relatives after completing the legal process.
