Several teachers from the University of Chittagong, Jahangirnagar University, Jagannath University, and Islamic University paid a courtesy call to the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, Prof Dr. S.M.A. Faiz, regarding research sub-projects under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere at the UGC on Monday.
At that time, Professor Dr. Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, acting member of the Commission’s Planning and Development Division, was present.
In the meeting, the teachers presented some of their observations and specific demands related to the research proposals under the HEAT project.
The Commission assured that they would review and verify the teachers’ observations and demands and take necessary steps accordingly. It was advised that the proposed research sub-projects are institutional projects, not individual ones. Therefore, they should follow the proper procedures through their respective university authorities to submit their observations and demands to the UGC.
Present at the meeting were Professor Dr. Salekul Islam of Jahangirnagar University, Prof Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam and Prof Dr. Md. Saiful Islam of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Prof Dr. Golam Maola of Islamic University, and officials related to the HEAT project.
