
Weeklong robbery spree in Dohar , 4 dacoits arrested

In a series of weeklong robbery incidents in the Dakshin Shimulia Talpatti area of Dhaka’s Dohar Upazila, police Station has arrested four dacoits.
The arrested individuals are Sagar Ahmed (23), son of Ukila Uddin Maudal, Sohel Khan (23), son of Samad Khan, Sheikh Tajul (25), and Md. Abul Khayer (38), all from Dakshin Shimulia village.
Inspector Shafiqul Alam, OC of Dohar Signpukur Investigation Center, confirmed the arrests, stating that four dacoits have been detained. However, no looted items have been recovered so far.
Mustafa Mia (55), a victim of the attack in Dakshin Shimulia Talpatti village, recounted that on Monday at around 1:30 AM, a group of 5-6 robbers broke into his house, held them hostage at gunpoint with local weapons, and looted Tk 55,000 in cash from cattle sales and a mobile phone. When the robbers attempted to remove his wife Jabeda Begum’s (42) gold earrings and nose ring, they touched her inappropriately, prompting her to scream. Hearing her cries, Sagar and Sohel attacked both Mustafa and his wife with sharp weapons, severely injuring Mustafa’s head, neck, cheeks, fingers of both hands, upper left arm, chest, and back. As locals rushed to the scene upon hearing the screams, the robbers fled. When the police patrol team arrived, Mustafa narrated the incident, and the police arranged for treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.
Speaking about the weeklong spree of robberies, Selim Matabbar (42) from the southern side of the two bridges in Uttar Shimulia, said that on Wednesday night, a similar robbery took place. The robbers broke into his house, held them hostage at gunpoint, and demanded to know where the cattle sale money was kept. After beating him severely, they looted 85,000 taka in cash, a mobile phone, and his wife Hasina Begum’s (35) gold chain, earrings, and nose ring. The next day, he filed a complaint at the Signpukur Investigation Center.
Jamal Uddin from the same village reported that on Tuesday night, the same gang attacked his house, looting 35,000 taka from a calf sale and his wife’s earrings at gunpoint.
Azahar Mia (48), an auto-rickshaw driver and son of Danech Fakir from the same village, alleged that on Saturday night, the robbers targeted his house, where he has an auto-rickshaw charging station.
These incidents have created a climate of fear in the Talpatti area of Narisha Union. Locals stated that despite informing the police, no effective measures were taken.
