
Youth arrested with firearm, Yaba following gunfire outside exam center in Munshiganj

A youth has been arrested with a revolver, Yaba pills, and a private car following a gunfire incident outside an HSC examination center in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Sunday at around 1:15 PM near the Ramphal College examination center in the Purba Deosar area, after the end of the HSC exam.
According to police, the gunfire followed a collision between a private car and a motorcycle in front of the exam center. The arrested youth, identified as Sabbir Hossain alias Dipu (29), allegedly fired three rounds during the altercation. Police recovered a .22 bore revolver, two live rounds, 70 pieces of Yaba pills, and the private vehicle from his possession.
During the arrest, three police personnel were injured in a scuffle. The injured are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Emdadul Haque (42), and constables Sajedur Rahman (26) and Robiul Alam Chowdhury (49), all from the Hatimara Police Outpost.
The arrested youth, Sabbir Hossain, is a resident of Mazdair in Fatullah, Narayanganj, and the son of Haji Abul Kalam Talukdar.
According to police officers present at the scene, Sabbir attempted to flee after firing three shots when people started gathering. However, with the help of locals, police managed to detain him. Two of his companions managed to escape.
Munshiganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saiful Alam stated that a case is being prepared in connection with the incident. He also confirmed that Sabbir Hossain is an accused in multiple cases involving firearms and narcotics. The shells from the three fired rounds have been recovered from the scene.
