A wide range of field-level development and service-oriented activities are currently underway to transform Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) into a clean, modern, and livable city.
These efforts have gained fresh momentum under the direct guidance and active field supervision of DSCC Administrator, Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam.
Special focus on waterlogging and waste management :
To reduce public suffering, priority measures have been taken to maintain efficient waste removal and ensure operational drainage systems. Cleaners are working tirelessly around the clock to regularly clear drains, remove garbage, and eliminate blockages in sewerage canals. DSCC Administrator is directly inspecting work progress on-site and issuing necessary directions to take swift action in identifying waterlogging-prone spots.
Special anti-mosquito drive, ‘Cleaning Day’ every Saturday :
To safeguard public health—particularly to protect citizens from the threat of dengue—DSCC is observing 'Cleaning Day' every Saturday. On this special day, intensive larviciding and fogging drives are being conducted to identify and destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds.
Special sanitation teams have been deployed across every zone to clean drains, canals, and areas with stagnant water.
Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam is personally attending these drives, providing comprehensive guidance to sanitation workers and supervising officials.
Aesthetic beautification:
History and heritage reflected in wall murals
beyond cleanliness has been appreciated. Special initiatives have been launched to enhance the city's aesthetic appeal. As part of these measures, walls along the roads in Segunbagicha and surrounding areas have been adorned with colorful paintings, artistic typography, and portraits of renowned figures. This initiative has created a vibrant new aesthetic landscape, earning widespread praise and appreciation from pedestrians and local residents.
Expectations of city dwellers :
Visibly positive changes have already begun to emerge across the region as a result of DSCC’s continuous monitoring, sanitation drives, and beautification efforts. Local residents express high hopes that if this positive momentum of active supervision continues, the DSCC area will soon transform into a model, modern, and healthy livable city.
