‘Partner Congress’ with farmers to increase agricultural production in Doha

“Partner Congress-2026” was held with the participation of farmers in Dohar,  Dhaka, with the aim of ensuring safe food production, increasing productivity, expanding new varieties, improving the quality of agricultural products and ensuring sustainable agricultural management. 
 
The day-long event was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on Tuesday afternoon with the theme “Agriculture is prosperity”. Doha Upazila Executive Officer and Municipal Administrator Md. Maidul Islam presided over the event, while Agronomist Syed Tanvir Ahmed, Deputy Director of the Dhaka Region of the Department of Agricultural Extension, was present as the chief guest. At this time, the chief guest said in his speech that farmers are the main driving force of the country’s economy. The overall progress of the country is not possible without the development of farmers. Therefore, in addition to producing safe food, everyone must work together to ensure fair prices for agricultural products.
 
 In the welcome speech of Dohar Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Niaz Mohammad Mithun, the speakers said that to ensure the country's food security, agriculture must be made more modern, technology-based and scientific. For producing safe food, it is necessary to reduce the use of excess chemicals and emphasize environment-friendly and healthy agricultural systems. At the same time, it was promised to further strengthen training and advisory activities at the field level to make farmers skilled in using modern technology. The program highlighted various strategies for using improved seeds, applying balanced fertilizers, integrated pest control systems, preserving soil fertility and ensuring higher yields at low cost. The importance of adaptation-based agricultural management to combat the effects of climate change was also discussed. The farmers participating in the program said that such an event is giving them new ideas about modern agricultural technology and safe food production. They believe that it will play an important role in increasing the awareness and skills of farmers. Earlier, the guests inaugurated the program by cutting the ribbon. Later, they visited the exhibition stall of vegetables produced using the GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) system and organic pesticides. The guests present at the program were Upazila BNP President Nazrul Islam Mecher, General Secretary Masud Parvez, Kushak Dal President Kazi Rubel, Secretary Rafiq Kabiraj, Upazila Animal Resources Officer Md. Shamim Hossain, Rural Development Officer Abdus Sattar, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Rakibul Hasas, Women Affairs Officer Sabrina Lucky, among others. In addition, farmers from different unions of the upazila, public representatives, officials from various departments, dignitaries, and journalists from print and electronic media participated in the program.
