In a special operation conducted by various police stations and DB police of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), a total of 26 people have been arrested on different charges, including 4 under special allegations.
In the last 24 hours on Wednesday, during operations in various areas of the metropolis, 4 people were arrested on charges of illegal influence, terrorist activities, and extortion. Among them, 3 were arrested for terrorist activities and 1 for extortion and illegal occupation. In addition, 21 more were arrested on other charges, including 8 who were warranted accused, 5 in drug-related cases, and 8 in other cases.
Arrested in the special operation are Md. Tanvir Hossain Sajal (30), Md. Hossain Ali (36), Md. Ziaul Haque (53), and Md. Sanowar Hossain (27). Tanvir is the son of Md. Shahinur Islam of Saheb Bazar area under Boalia Model Police Station in Rajshahi metropolis. He is a former president of the Chhatra League of Rajshahi City College. Jubo League activist Hossain is the son of Alhaj Sultan Ali of Chandipur area under Rajpara Police Station. Ziaul Haque is the son of the deceased Akhtar Hossain of Uttar Naodapara Kalu’r Mor area under Shah Makhdum Police Station. He is an Awami League activist of Ward No. 17. Extortionist Sanowar is the son of Mozammel Hossain of Barokuthi Camp area under Boalia Police Station.
Legal action has been taken against the arrested accused by the RMP.
