30,000 saplings distributed in Rajshahi under REDA green drive

Under the slogan "Adorn the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh comes first" (Brikkharopone sajai desh, sobar aage Bangladesh), a massive tree plantation and sapling distribution program was held at the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Headquarters premises on Saturday.
Organized by the Rajshahi Real Estate and Developers Association (REDA) in collaboration with the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA), and local journalists, the initiative distributed 30,000 saplings of various timber, fruit, and medicinal species to promote environmental sustainability across the city.
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, attended the event as the chief guest. Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) MP Advocate Shafiqul Haq Milan, RDA Chairman Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, Rajshahi District Council Administrator Freedom Fighter Advocate Ershad Ali Esha, and RMP Police Commissioner Mohammad Faezul Kabir attended as special guests. REDA President Toufiqur Rahman Lavluh presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu emphasized that tree plantation is vital to transforming Rajshahi into a "Green City, Clean City, and Healthy City." He stated that planting trees provides essential oxygen, balances the ecosystem, and shields the region against climate vulnerabilities, urging all citizens to consider tree planting a civic duty for future generations.
