4 arrested with girlfriend for murdering boyfriend, then disappearing his body in Raipura

After killing a student named Walid Hasan (18) in Raipura, Narsingdi, allegations have been made against his girlfriend and family members for trying to hide his body by wrapping it in a cloth.
The deceased Walid Hasan is the son of Abdul Hai of Kandapara in Raipura municipality. He appeared for the SSC examination this year from a local school. After the separation of his parents, he lived with his mother Rasheda Begum in Baherchar village of the same upazila, his maternal grandparents.
In this incident, the police have arrested four people, including the alleged lover Prana Akhter, her mother Farida Begum, and younger sister Minni Akhter.
Police recovered Walid's body from his girlfriend's house in Baherchar area of Chanderkandi Union of the upazila around 11 pm on Saturday (June 20).
According to police and local sources, school student Walid got into a love affair with Zakir Mia's daughter Prana Akhtar. The girlfriend's family members were angry with Walid over the incident. As a result, Prana recently got married to an expatriate. Prana kept in touch with her boyfriend even after the marriage.
Walid suddenly went missing on Thursday (June 18) night. His family members searched everywhere but could not find him. However, the family members suspected his girlfriend and her family. Later, on Saturday night, around 11 pm, they found a body wrapped in cloth lying behind Pranad's house. Some people, including the younger brother of the missing Walid, went there and identified his body. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body and arrested Walid's girlfriend Prana, her mother and two sisters. Pranad's father Zakir Mia has been absconding since the incident. On Sunday (June 21) afternoon, angry people vandalized Pranad's house in protest of the incident.
The deceased's brother Roman said, "I was looking for my brother on the night of the incident. Then I heard the sound of a dog barking from behind Zakir Mia's house and went there. When I went there, I saw Prana, her mother and two sisters pulling something out wrapped in a cloth.
Raipura Police Station OC Mujibur Rahman said the body was recovered from behind a room in the girlfriend's house. Four people were arrested in the incident. Details will be revealed after the autopsy. Family members said they will file a case after the body is buried. We are in touch with them.
