5 people, including UP member, jailed for cutting down Forest Department trees to build structures in Taltali

A court has ordered the jailing of five people, including a UP member, in a case filed against the Forest Department for cutting down trees and constructing roads in Taltali Barguna on Sunday noon.
Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md. Ifti Hasan Imran rejected their bail application and ordered them to be sent to prison.
The accused in the case are Sonakata Union Parishad members Shahid Akon, Masud Khan, Sabuj Fakir, Kudi Molla and Md. Nekiar Hossain.
According to the case source, Sakina Bit officer Md. Rahimul Islam Jumel filed a case with Taltali Police Station under the Forest Act on April 26, alleging that the forest department illegally cut down trees and soil in the Nidra Char area of Sakina Bit in Taltali Upazila and constructed a road. The accused surrendered to the court on Sunday and applied for bail, but the court rejected it.
Sakina BIT officer Md. Rahimul Islam Jumel said that a case has been filed on charges of encroaching on forest department land and cutting down trees and soil to construct structures and roads.
Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Peshkar Md. Abu Bakar said that the court rejected the bail applications of five accused, including the UP member, in the case filed by the Forest Department and ordered them to be sent to jail.
