51st special BCS opens 5,000 posts for doctors

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued a circular for the 51st special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exam to recruit 5,000 doctors for government hospitals.
The recruitment will include 4,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons under the BCS health cadre.
Candidates with MBBS, BDS or equivalent degrees can apply online from Oct 1 to Oct 25. The application fee has been set at Tk 200.
The exam is tentatively scheduled for November.
How Candidates Will Be Selected
Applicants will face a 200-mark preliminary exam followed by a 100-mark competency-based viva voce.
The preliminary test will allocate 20 marks each to Bangla, English, Bangladesh affairs and international affairs.
Mental ability and mathematical reasoning will carry 10 marks each, while the remaining 100 marks will cover subjects related to the health cadre.
The latest special BCS recruitment for the health cadre was conducted through the 48th BCS, which sought to recruit more than 3,000 doctors.
The PSC published the final results on Sept 11 last year, with 3,120 candidates passing the tests.
Of them, 2,820 were provisionally nominated as assistant surgeons and 300 as assistant dental surgeons.
The 49th BCS was also a special exam, aimed at recruiting 683 teachers for government colleges.
The PSC issued the circular for the 50th BCS, a general examination, on Nov 26 last year. Its written examination results have since been published, with 6,165 candidates qualifying.
