Administration demolishes resort built on River Island in Shyamnagar
Shyamnagar (Satkhira) Correspondent
The Upazila administration of Shyamnagar in Satkhira has demolished a newly constructed unauthorized resort named ‘A and N Travel and Tours,’ which was built by occupying a river island adjacent to the Malanch River near the Sundarbans coastline.
On Sunday, the A and N Travel Resort located in the Moukhalia area by the Malanch River in the Sundarbans Satkhira range was dismantled. This recently established facility, situated beside the Malanch River near the Sundarbans, had been gradually constructed over more than eight months. Following media reports about this, the Upazila administration had instructed the concerned parties to remove the illegal structures at their own responsibility. However, as the authorities failed to remove the resort, the administration launched an operation to demolish it. The operation was led by Sanjay Roy, Land Officer of Munshiganj Union representing the Shyamnagar Upazila administration; Md. Faridul Islam, Deputy Assistant Engineer of the Water Development Board-1; Fayazur Rahman, Forester of the Munshiganj patrol camp of the Forest Department; and SI Sujit Sarkar of the Neeldumur Tourist Police. Regarding the operation, Munshiganj Union Land Officer Sanjay Roy stated that although the resort owners were instructed to remove the structures at their own responsibility, they did not comply. Therefore, the administration is conducting the demolition. No construction is permitted on Paurashava property without authorization.
