A businessman in Rajshahi has held a press conference alleging that his family property has been forcibly occupied and that he and his family members have been subjected to intimidation, death threats and financial fraud. However, the accused has denied all the allegations, describing them as completely false and baseless.

Habib Khan, a resident of the Rani Bazar Butter More area of Rajshahi city, made the allegations at a press conference held at his residence on Sunday (August 9).

Habib Khan is a lifetime member of the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Rifles Club and a two-time former general secretary of the Shaheb Bazar Kacha Bazar Association in the city.

In a written statement at the press conference, Habib Khan said a property owned by his mother-in-law had been transferred to the name of her younger son, Emran Kabir Rokon. However, he alleged that his elder brother-in-law, Kazi Mohammad Humayun Kabir Sandhi, had been occupying the property by using his political and personal influence.

He claimed that Emran had been subjected to intimidation and mental pressure for a long time.

Habib Khan further alleged that Humayun Kabir had threatened him and his wife with death on several occasions. He also claimed that his wife was recently threatened over the phone with death if she went to the house.

He also alleged that his younger brother-in-law, Emran Kabir, had been locked inside his own residence.

Habib Khan further alleged that on the afternoon of August 3, his son, Nabayet Khan Himel, was returning home from the Rajshahi Education Board when he was stopped by several people, including Humayun Kabir's son, Jisan, at the Museum More area. They allegedly verbally abused him and threatened to kill him.

At the press conference, Habib Khan also raised allegations concerning various cases and irregularities and demanded a proper investigation into the incidents and legal action against those responsible.

When contacted about the allegations, Kazi Mohammad Humayun Kabir Sandhi categorically denied them, describing them as completely false and baseless.

He also said that he had never been involved in Awami League politics. Regarding the disputed property, Humayun Kabir claimed that his mother had never transferred any property to his younger brother, Emran Kabir. Rather, he alleged that Emran had committed fraud concerning the property.

No immediate comment could be obtained from the relevant law enforcement authorities regarding the allegations.
