
Badhan's AGM, charge hand over ceremony held at GAU

The Annual General Meeting and charge handover 2025 of Badhan, a voluntary blood donation organization, was held with grandeur on Friday at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium.
Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) sponsored the programme organized by Badhan Central Committee.
The event was held under the heartfelt slogan, A drop of blood can save a life , let blood be the bond of humanity.
The program was inaugurated at 10:00 AM, presided over by Badhan Central Committee President Md. Shamim Gazi. GAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman attended as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University, was the Keynote Speaker. Special guests included Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice-Chancellor, Royal University of Dhaka, Prof. Dr. M. Moynul Haque, Pro-Vice Chancellor, GAU, Prof. Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, Treasurer, GAU, Prof. Md. Aman Ullah, Principal, Anand Mohan College Delegates, advisors, and members from 61 districts and GAUs local unit of Badhan were in attendance. The day began with annual reports from various Badhan zones (10:0011:30 AM), followed by the National Blood Olympiad finals and award ceremony (11:3012:00 PM).
The second session included welcome speeches, the annual action plan, and keynote addresses. New leadership for 202526 was announced, President S.M. Kamruzzaman Kafi (Rajshahi University), General Secretary Ahmed Reza Junayed (BUET) Outgoing members were thanked for their service, and best wishes were extended to the newly elected team.
Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan commemorated the martyrs of the 1952 and 2024 July uprisings, highlighting Badhans broader social role including free blood grouping and awareness. He called on the organization to foster tolerance and environmental responsibility while contributing to national anti corruption efforts. Chief Guest Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman praised Badhan as a humanitarian force. The name Badhan signifies unity a vital driver of social transformation. Guided by compassion and patriotism, it will continue to fulfill its mission, he said, also reflecting on the heroism of those who sacrificed in the July 24 movement. The event concluded with a vibrant cultural program, adding festivity to the occasion. Founded on October 24, 1997, Badhan has donated over 1.12 million bags of blood to date. It operates in 92 educational institutions across 16 zones, 148 units, and 14 families.
