State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md. Mohibbur Rahman MP said, 'Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina has brought Bangladesh to the spirit of Liberation War today.

We got an independent country and national flag through the armed struggle of liberation war under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Freedom fighters are the proud children of the country and nation. We got freedom in exchange for their life, sacrifice and labor. So you deserve this honor today. We feel proud to welcome you. You freedom fighters are our role models.'-state minister said these words in the speech of the chief guest at the reception ceremony organized by the upazila administration on the 54th Great Independence and National Day on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Kalapara Govt. Mojahar Uddin Biswas College ground in Patuakhali.

With Kalapara UNO Md. Rabiul Islam in the chair, State Minister Mohib also said, 'Bangabandhu said in his speech on March 7 that this year's struggle is a struggle for freedom, this year's struggle is a struggle for liberation. Bangabandhu gave us freedom; he could not give us economic freedom. On 15th August, the anti-liberation movement wanted to stop all the achievements of this country by killing Bangabandhu.

In Bangabandhu's absence, you have to work under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina to achieve economic liberation, build a smart Bangladesh and build the golden bangla of Bangabandhu's dream. And the country should be moved forward by preventing all evil forces and conspiracies.' Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Rakibul Ahsan, AC Land Koushik Ahmed, Upazila Awami League Secretary Abdul Motaleb Talukdar, Kalapara Municipality Panel Mayor Md. Humayun Kabir, Kalapara Police Station OC Ali Ahmed and others were also present.

Earlier, at 7:30 in the morning, the state minister along with party leaders, workers and upazila administration officials laid wreaths at Bangabandhu's portrait in front of the party office and at the upazila administration premises. He formally hoisted the national flag, saluted and visited the parade at Mojahar Uddin Biswas College ground at 10 am. At this time, an attractive display was shown in the college grounds with the participation of school-college students.

Later, in the afternoon, special prayers were held in mosques, temples, pagodas, churches for the peace and progress of the nation. In the afternoon, a special sports event involving women, preeti football and preeti cricket matches were held between Upazila Parishad verses Municipal staff.
