Calves distributed among 65 small ethnic groups in Juri

Some 65 calves were distributed among the small ethnic groups at Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar district under the Integrated Livestock Development Project to improve the socio-economic life of small ethnic groups living in the plains on Wednesdayat around 11 am.
Calves were distributed among 65 backward men and women from small ethnic groups living in different areas of six unions of the upazila, under the initiative of the Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital.
Present at the Bakna cow distribution ceremony among women and men of small ethnic groups organized at the Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital premises were Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bablu Sutradhar, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mridul Kanti De, Deputy Assistant Livestock Officer Ripon Chandra Das, Upazila Tribal Welfare Association (TWA) President Michael Nongrum, General Secretary Wanmon Longdoh, Juri Adivasi Forum President Bhagya Singh, Vice President Uday Munda, Organizing Secretary Shanto Singh, UP member Basanti Kurmi and others.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mridul Kanti Dey said that for the first time in the current fiscal year, Bakna cows have been distributed among 65 people from small ethnic groups in the upazila under the Integrated Livestock Development Project to improve the socio-economic life of small ethnic groups living in the plains. In the future, some more people from the small ethnic groups in the area may get Bakna cows.
After receiving Bakna cows, women from the small ethnic groups, Adri Oraon, Manihar Singh, Lovely Longdoh and Ujjal Munda, said Jagat Mohan Teli, They are very happy to receive free cows from the government. If the government had not given them, they would never have bought cows with their own money. They will try to change their fate by raising the cows with care.
