Chapainawabganj Journalist Forum, Dhaka : Mobarak President, Sabuj Secretary

The Chapainawabganj Journalist Forum, Dhaka (CJFD) has formed its new leadership for the 2026-28 term, vowing to strengthen professional unity, mutual cooperation, and development initiatives for the Chapainawabganj district.

At the organization’s biennial election and Annual General Meeting (AGM), Md. Ferdaus Mobarak, Chief News Editor of the Daily Times of Bangladesh, was elected President, while Ziaul Haque Sabuj, Business Editor of Banglavision, was chosen as General Secretary. Ashraful Islam, Acting News Editor of the Daily Amader Shomoy, was elected Vice-President of the 15-member full executive committee.

The AGM and election took place at a restaurant in the capital on Wednesday (July 8), where Dhaka-based journalists originating from Chapainawabganj cast their votes to elect the new committee. The session was presided over by the outgoing president and City Editor of Daily Khoborer Kagoj, Abdullah Al Mamun. The election process was conducted by the founding president of the forum and Editor of Life TV, Anwar Haque. Meanwhile, Muha. Khadimul Islam, the founding general secretary of CJFD and currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University, USA, addressed the gathering as a special guest.

As part of the newly elected executive committee, Mesbahul Haque (Senior Reporter, Daily Samakal) was elected Joint General Secretary, Meem Obaidullah (Country Editor - Online, Daily Bhorer Kagoj) as Organizational Secretary, and Mohammad Ali (Staff Reporter, Daily Khoborer Kagoj) as Treasurer. Additionally, Taskina Yasmin (Senior Reporter, Bangladesh Kantho) took charge as Office Secretary, while Shahanat Hossain Masum (Editor, Muhurto News) was chosen as the Publicity, Publication, and Research Secretary. The committee also includes seven elected executive members.-founding president Anwar Haque, outgoing president Abdullah Al Mamun, Faijul Islam (Assistant Editor, Daily Ittefaq), Jahangir Alam (Senior Reporter, Khoborer Kagoj), Md. Al Amin (Senior Reporter, Manabzamin), Md. Mamunur Rashid (Editor, Nakshi dot TV), and Syed Rashidul Hasan (Reporter, Ekattor Television).

Following the announcement of the election results, both the incoming and outgoing leaders expressed a firm determination to make CJFD’s overall activities more constructive and dynamic.

They urged all members to work collectively for professional welfare, mutual support, and to actively highlight the development potential and rights of the Chapainawabganj district on the national stage.

Established on June 18, 2014, Chapainawabganj Journalist Forum, Dhaka continues to function as an essential platform for elevating the professional skills of its members and championing regional development issues through national media channels.
