A 4-year-old boy named Ayon Dhali drowned to death on Friday afternoon in Talpukuria village of the upazila. The deceased Ayon was the only son of Narayan Dhali and Sima Dhali of Talpukuria village.
The death of the family’s only child has plunged the relatives and the entire area into deep grief.
According to reports, around 2 p.m., Ayon went to their poultry farm situated above the family pond along with his grandmother. While the grandmother was feeding the chickens, Ayon went out of sight. When she could not find him, she called the family members. After searching the surroundings without success, Ayon was later found submerged in the pond beneath the farm.
He was immediately rescued and rushed to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Kotalipara Police Station OC Hafizur Rahman said, “We were informed by the hospital about the child’s death due to drowning. Police have been sent to the hospital. Necessary steps will be taken after talking to the family and higher authorities.”
