A child named Md. Tahabi (6) has died after drowning in a pond in Subarnachar, Noakhali.
The incident took place at around 5 pm on Tuesday in Ward No. 3 of Katabunia village of Char Aman Ullah union of the upazila. The deceased, Tahabi, is the only son of Omar Faruk Ershad of the village.
According to family sources, Tahabi fell into a pond near the yard while playing in the afternoon. Later, family members rescued him and took him to Subarnachar Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Tahabi was a student of the nursery class at the Noorani branch of the local Rabbania Fazil Madrasa.
Char Jabbar Police Station OC Md. Shahin Mia said, police were sent to the spot after receiving information about the incident. The sudden death of the child has cast a shadow of grief among the family and relatives.
