Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament inaugurated in Faridpur

The "Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026" was formally inaugurated in a festive atmosphere on Saturday at the Sujon Sangha Upazila Mini Stadium in Bakhunda, Faridpur.
Organized by the Sujon Sangha, the tournament features 16 teams competing for the title. The opening match was contested between Koijuri Academy and Phulsuti Academy, drawing a large crowd of local football enthusiasts and spectators to the stadium.
Administrator of Faridpur Zila Parishad Chairman Afzal Hossain Khan Palash officially inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. In his opening address, he paid tribute to the political career and social contributions of the late leader Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf. He noted that the initiative would help identify talented grassroots players and assured that top performers from the tournament would receive opportunities to advance to the national level.
Presided over by Shah Shafiqul Alam (Ranu Miah), Convenor of the Tournament Management Committee and President of Sujon Sangha, the event was attended by local political and social leaders, including Gerda Union BNP President Advocate Abdul Hannan, General Secretary Nurul Islam Bablu, and Organizational Secretary Raihan Mridha Rashed.
Organizers stated that the tournament aims to encourage sports engagement among youth and discourage drug abuse. The guests expressed optimism for a competitive and successful tournament.
