Commitment to make Nazrul Year programs people-centric: Grand Artists' Conference, view exchange held at Shilpakala Academy

A special "Artists' Conference" and view-exchange meeting was held on Sunday to promote the immense contributions of the poet of equality, rebellion, and our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam across generations, and to outline countrywide celebrations for the declared "Nazrul Year 2026-2027."
Patrons of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and organizers from the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy arranged this festive event at 11:00 AM on Sunday at National Art Gallery Auditorium of the academy.
Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury, MP, attended the colorful event as the chief guest and delivered strategic directives. In his address, he urged organizers to extend the Nazrul Year programs to the grassroots level to inspire the younger generation with the poet's non-communal and humanitarian ideals.
The Minister also declared that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will extend all necessary financial and medical assistance to financially insolvent and ailing artists, emphasizing that the government stands firmly by them.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, MP, attended the conference as the special guest. In their speeches, the dignitaries placed special emphasis on projecting the creations and life philosophy of the National Poet onto the global stage.
The session was presided over by Kaniz Maula, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed (Rezauddin Stalin), delivered the welcome address, while the Secretary of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, offered the vote of thanks.
Eminent artists from various cultural disciplines, Nazrul researchers, intellectuals, and civic leaders participated in the conference, sharing valuable insights to make the planned Nazrul Year initiatives more dynamic and people-centric. Speakers expressed optimism that these year-long initiatives will successfully carry the National Poet's message of equality and humanity to every corner of Bengal.
