Cultural Minister promises maximum support for JnU library, cultural activities

Staff Correspondent

Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury on Wednesday assured maximum financial and infrastructural cooperation from his ministry to expand cultural practices and enrich the central library of Jagannath University (JnU).

The minister made the commitment while addressing a special cultural program organized by the university's Department of Music as the chief guest.

He emphasized that culture is the soul of a nation through which true human inner beauty and humanitarian consciousness flourish, urging the generation to revive the thousand-year-old heritage and folk culture of the land.

Chaired by Dr. Anima Roy, Chairman of the JnU Department of Music, the event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University, the Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra University, the JnU Treasurer, the Director General of Bangla Academy, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, along with distinguished faculty members and students from various departments.

Highlighting recent political and social crises, Nitai Roy Chowdhury stated that a totalitarian and fascist regime had previously wrecked the country's state, constitutional, educational, and cultural structures. He alleged that the former autocracy deliberately shattered independent institutions such as the Election Commission, Public Service Commission, and University Grants Commission, while putting the nation's glorious history and education system on the verge of destruction.
