In Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Fauzia Khan distributed wheelchairs to underprivileged persons with disabilities, dry food to distressed and vulnerable families affected by natural disasters, and educational materials to primary school students.
Later, she also inaugurated an awareness workshop with the participation of parents to promote children’s health protection and intellectual development.
On Thursday (7 August) afternoon, the upazila administration organized the educational material and wheelchair distribution programs as well as the awareness workshop in front of the UNO office and in the upazila auditorium.
The various events, held separately, were presided over by Kuliarchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabiha Fatematuj-Zohra.
According to official sources, the awareness workshop was funded by the Upazila Parishad Development Fund and aimed to raise awareness among parents regarding children's health protection and intellectual growth. The wheelchairs were distributed through the Ministry of Social Welfare’s Disability Service and Assistance Center, organized by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Social Services Office.
Besides , dry food provided by the Department of Disaster Management was distributed to distressed and vulnerable families affected by natural calamities, under the joint initiative of the Upazila Administration and the Department of Disaster Management.
Among others present were Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Raqin Mashroor Khan, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Adnan Akhtar, Upazila Engineer, LGED, SRMG Kibria, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Omar Faruq, Upazila Social Services Officer Mahbuba Siddiqui, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Mahmuda Sultana, Upazila Youth Development Officer Mohammad Delwar Hossain, UNO Abdul Alim Rana, Upazila Rural Development Officer Anisur Rahman, Upazila Instructor Bishwajit Kumar Saha, along with local journalists, underprivileged persons with disabilities, disaster-affected distressed families, and guardians of students from various educational institutions in the upazila.
