Satkhira DC  Md. Mostak Ahmed said, on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse, we have decided that every official and employee of all institutions in Satkhira will undergo a dope test. Only then will the International Day against Drug Abuse be successful.

He made these remarks as the chief guest during a discussion meeting and prize-giving ceremony organized at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday marking the International Day against Drug Abuse.

Addressing the officials, Md. Mostak Ahmed said, “We are not here to sit idle. Life is not meant for sitting around, it's for working. Doing a job just for money is not enough; one must do good work. You will conduct dope tests for every employee of government institutions, NGOs, banks, and all other organizations. These institutions must conduct the tests and report back to me.”

He further stated that drugs have made their way into educational institutions, and advised students to form anti-drug committees in all educational institutions.

Speakers at the discussion called for raising awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and urged families and society to come forward against drugs. They said drugs do not only destroy an individual but can ruin the future of an entire nation.

As a special guest, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Monirul Islam said that directives have already been issued to dope test all members of the Satkhira police administration. If any police member is found using drugs, steps will be taken to dismiss them from service.

The event was presided over by Deputy Director of the District Department of Narcotics Control Mizanur Rahman Sharif. Other speakers included Civil Surgeon A. Salam.

The event was conducted by Satkhira Shishu Academy’s Child Affairs Officer Md. Riazul Islam. Additional speakers included BGB Assistant Director Beg Abdullah Al Masum, ADM Ripon Biswas, Professor Mozammel Haque, journalist Shah Jahan Ali Miton, student representative Imran Hossain Imu, along with officials from various government departments and students from different educational institutions.

Before the event, a colourful anti-drug rally was brought out from the Collectorate premises.
The event also included drawing, essay writing, and quiz competitions participated in by students from various schools and colleges. Later, guests distributed prizes among the winners.
