In a condolence message, DCAB President AKM Moinuddin and General Secretary Md Arifuzzaman Mamun on Monday described Shamim Ahmad as a luminary in Bangladeshi journalism.
Through his unwavering professional integrity, dedication, and leadership, they said, Shamim became a role model for journalists across the country.
"He was not only a gifted journalist but also an organizer, mentor, and friend. With his quiet departure into eternity, we have lost a wise, experienced, and highly respected colleague. He remained deeply engaged in DCAB's activities and made significant contributions to the organization's growth and development," said DCAB President and General Secretary.
They offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers.

Over the course of his illustrious career, he also held the position of Minister (Press) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C., and served as President of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
He was admitted to a private hospital on Sunday after a sudden deterioration in his health where he breathed his last on Monday morning.
