Developing skilled human resources essential to achieving 2034 economic target: State Minister Bobby Hajjaj

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj emphasized the critical need to transform the youth into a skilled, productive, and globally competitive workforce to double Bangladesh's economic output by 2034.
He made the remarks as the chief guest on Friday at the "2nd ULAB-TESOLBD International ESP Conference 2026," jointly organized by the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and TESOL Society of Bangladesh at the ULAB campus in Dhaka.
Addressing the conference, State Minister Bobby Hajjaj said, academic degrees alone are insufficient for career success without practical skills, technological literacy, problem-solving abilities, and English language proficiency. He noted that despite learning English across educational levels, many university graduates still struggle with practical communication and professional articulation, calling for a shift away from rote learning toward functional language application.
The State Minister pointed out that English language skills are essential for accessing global research, technology, engineering, business, and management resources, while also underscoring the need to make technical terminology accessible in the native language..
Chaired by ULAB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, the conference was attended by University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Professor Dr. Masuma Habib, Reallyenglish Chief Executive Officer Nigel Killick, and eminent writer and journalist Anisul Hoque as special guests, alongside faculty members and researchers from various universities.
