Dhaka DC visits Uttarkhan Land Office disguised in burqa

Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farida Khanom conducted a surprise inspection at Uttarkhan Union Land Office disguised in a burqa to directly evaluate the reality of public land service delivery and assess citizen harassment.
DC arrived at the crowded land office wearing a burqa to blend in among service seekers who had gathered for mutation requests, land record updates, and general inquiries. When asked by fellow citizens, she simply identified herself as an ordinary service seeker on Monday.
During her incognito visit, the top district official spent considerable time standing alongside members of the public, listening to their experiences, and observing office operations. She closely monitored the delivery process, administrative efficiency, staff behavior, and potential procedural delays or irregularities faced by citizens.
Following the stealth inspection, DC Farida Khanom revealed her identity and issued strict directives to the land office staff. She instructed officials to streamline procedures, eliminate unnecessary delays, and ensure transparent, hassle-free land services for all citizens without harassment.
District administration officials noted that visiting field offices in disguise provides authentic insights into public service standards that reports alone cannot capture, ensuring greater accountability across local government offices.
