The Center for Gender and Development Studies (CDGS) at Dhaka University, in partnership with UN Women Bangladesh, launched the "CDGS-UN Women Policy Dialogue Series" on Tuesday at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium.
The inaugural event featured a paper presentation titled "Achieving Gender Equality before The Law in Bangladesh" by Law Prof Dr. Shahnaz Huda, followed by a panel discussion with prominent legal experts and rights advocates.
Inaugurating the program as chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam emphasized that legal frameworks alone are insufficient without a shift in societal mindsets. He called for grassroots awareness to combat violence against women, achieve Sustainable Development Goals, and actively involve youth and research-backed proposals in policy-making to build an inclusive society.
