DU VC congratulates all concerned as DUCSU elections successfully ends

DU Correspondent

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed his gratitude and thanks to the university students, election candidates, media workers, law enforcement agencies and everyone involved in the electoral process for the successful completion of the DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections.

The Vice Chancellor said, the DUCSU elections were a long-standing demand of the students. Respecting the demands of the students, the university administration organized this election with the cooperation of various stakeholders. We see this as an opportunity to respect the uprising of the students and the values of the people. The Vice Chancellor specially expressed gratitude to the journalists for their spontaneous presence at all stages of the election. He expressed deep sorrow over the death of Channel S journalist Tariqul Islam Shibli, who died on duty, and prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased's soul.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked the students for their extensive support and cooperation in every phase of the election. DUCSU has created an opportunity for students to express their opinions. The Vice-Chancellor expressed the hope that they will fully utilize the opportunity created for them to work for the development of the university.

Expressing gratitude to all those involved in the election process, including the Election Commission, the Vice-Chancellor said, "The Election Commission has truly worked day and night. One member of the commission left his child in the ICU in a critical condition and worked with us around the clock in the name of duty." I gave this example because many people have worked hard to organize the DUCSU elections. My colleagues have worked very sincerely in organizing this event for the past eleven months. They have thoroughly seen and implemented every step and plan. Their role is impeccable in any consideration.

Parents, various teacher forums, and Chittagong University observers, along with stakeholders at various levels, have come forward in response to my organization. We would like to thank them. They played an important role in election monitoring.

The Vice Chancellor wished the winning and losing candidates well and said that it is important to mention the important contribution of each of them for two reasons. First, they have played a role in activating a very important institution like DUCSU. Second, they have been together without major conflicts by demonstrating tolerance from the preparation phase of the election to the day of the election. Despite different parties and opinions, and many differences, they have set a wonderful example of how we can be united due to compassion for Dhaka University and the country.

The Vice Chancellor said, "I would like to specially mention the role of law enforcement agencies. In some difficult situations, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Administration, various branches of the police, and intelligence agencies have played a significant role. We thank them and express our gratitude to them."

The interest and support shown by the people of the country towards Dhaka University as a national institution is a great achievement for us. I salute the entire countrymen for standing with Dhaka University. We still have a long way to go. We want to stand with the country and the nation in the democratic process of the country, in the process of creating an inclusive university and in the process of rebuilding Bangladesh through the activation of DUCSU.
