
Expelled UP Chairman Kamal Hossain seeks reinstatement in Begumganj

Kamal Hossain, former Chairman of Noakhali’s Begumganj Upazila 12 No. Kutubpur Union Parishad and former Jubo League leader, has reportedly submitted a formal request to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and UNO) to be reinstated in his former position as UP Chairman.
According to sources, Kamal Hossain a convicted criminal with a 17-year sentence in multiple cases involving arms, murder, and narcotics — has recently been released on bail. Despite his criminal background, he has now approached the local administration seeking to resume his official duties.
Kamal Hossain is also known as one of the accused in the 2018 attack on the motorcade and rally stage of former minister and BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu at the Zamidarhat area in Begumganj. Locals express grave concern and fear over his move to regain power, describing him as a notorious figure with strong political backing.
When contacted over the phone regarding the matter, Begumganj UNO Arifur Rahman said, “We have not yet received any official documents from the ministry regarding this issue.”
The situation in the area remains tense following Kamal’s application, with residents fearing renewed unrest if he is reinstated.
