
Fake medicine factory : Goods seized, fine imposed in Patnitala

Goods worth about three lakh taka have been seized from a fake factory producing various veterinary medicines in Patnitala, Naogaon. Later, the owner was fined 48 thousand taka in a mobile court. In addition, various seized medicines have been recovered and destroyed.
On Tuesday afternoon, the fraudsters had been carrying out these activities for a long time in a rented house at Notunhat intersection in the upazila's Najipur municipal area.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Jewel Mia collected a total fine of Tk 48,000 from the couple Hamidur Rahman and Sabina Yasmin Hira, the alleged owners of the fake factory without government approval. It is learned that their home is in the Agradwiguna area of Dhamairhat upazila of the district. Patnitala Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Ashish Kumar Debnath was present at the time.
The various fake medicines seized included antibiotics, animal calcium, zinc, iron, etc. These were being marketed in the market under the names of famous and expensive companies in packages bearing the names and addresses of Dhaka, the capital, and Lahore, Pakistan, to deceive ordinary buyers.
