According to sources at the District Election Office, the night guard on duty went to pull the curtains of the office in the morning. Then, the office cleaner heard a creaking sound in a room while working. Later, when he informed other people about the matter, they came and saw a fire burning in a room called the accounting department of the office. Later, the fire service was informed and the fire service members reached the spot and brought the fire under control in a short time.

At that time, he heard a loud noise from a room and informed others, who came and saw a fire burning in one room. Later, the fire service was informed and they came and brought the fire under control. However, many people were sleeping when the incident occurred in the morning, due to which that room was damaged by fire and other rooms were covered in smoke.
In this regard, Jahangir Ahmed, Deputy Assistant Director of Barguna Fire Service and Civil Defense, said, "We received the news of the fire at 7:26 am. Later, as the station was nearby, the fire service members reached the spot quickly and were able to control the fire. However, the fire could not spread to the main store next door.
The fire was limited to only a room called the accounting branch. The computer, photocopy machine and some files there were burnt. The main store, where there was a lot of goods, was not damaged in any way."
