Md. Redwan Hossain, Subarnachar (Noakhali)

A day-long job fair was held for the first time in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali district on Wednesday, drawing massive enthusiasm from local job seekers.

Organized under the RAISE project of Sagarika Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, a non-governmental development organization, the fair featured stalls from 16 prominent companies and corporate institutions. Around 1,000 job aspirants participated in the event to submit their curriculum vitae (CVs), while several candidates secured immediate employment opportunities through on-the-spot interviews conducted by the participating employers.

The inaugural session of the event was presided over by Md. Monayem Khan, President of the Executive Committee of Sagarika Samaj Unnayan Sangstha. Subarnachar UNP Akib Osman attended the program as the chief guest, while Z M Mizanur Rahman Khan, Deputy Director of the Noakhali District Social Services Office, was present as the special guest alongside high-ranking corporate officials. Mohammad Saiful Islam, Executive Director of Sagarika Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, delivered the welcome address.

Moderated by poet and journalist Hanif Mahmud, the fair included dedicated sessions where senior corporate representatives provided career guidelines to the candidates. The experts discussed crucial aspects of skill development, career planning, employer expectations, modern recruitment processes, and essential workplace preparations. According to the organizers, the primary objective of the fair was to enhance local youth employment, develop a skilled human resource pool, and bridge the gap between job seekers and potential employers.

Lauding the initiative, the guests remarked that such events would play a vital role in curbing unemployment and urged the organizers to institutionalize the job fair as a regular event in the region.
