Fisheries Adviser releases fry in Kaptai Lake, VGF rice distributed

VGF program for releasing carp fish fry in Kaptai Lake in Rangamati and distributing VGF (rice) among fishermen has been inaugurated.on Monday at 10 am.
Kaptai Lake Fisheries Development and Marketing Center, Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation, organized the fish fry release program at the BFDC jetty. Farida Akhtar, Adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, was the chief guest.
The event was presided over by Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation Chairman (Additional Secretary) Suraiya Akhtar Jahan, while Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Md. Tofazzel Hossain, Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Major General (Retd.) Anup Kumar Chakma, NDC, PSC, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah, Superintendent of Police Dr. SM Farhad Hossain Chowdhury, Manager of Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation Rangamati Commander Md. Faiz Al Karim, (ND), BN were present.
Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Farida Akhtar said, Kaptai Lake is one of the main fish resources of Bangladesh. The economy here depends on this fish resource. Kaptai Lake is related to the livelihood of people, Kaptai Lake is the pride of Bangladesh. This lake needs to be saved. This requires everyone's sincerity. We need to save Kaptai Lake.
Fishing is closed for a specified period every year to ensure natural reproduction and growth of fish in Kaptai Lake. The speakers also urged not to harvest fish from the lake during the closure period and not to harvest fry during the closure period.
After the discussion meeting, VGF rice was distributed among the fishermen and a program to release carp fry into the lake was inaugurated.
