Food Minister Afroza Khanam MP distributed sarees provided as gifts by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman among underprivileged members of the Hindu community in Manikganj Sadar upazila on the occasion of the upcoming  Durga Puja on Monday. 

Speaking as the chief guest at the distribution ceremony organized by the Manikganj Sadar Upazila Administration, the Food Minister said, the  government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working sincerely to alleviate distress and ensure the welfare of Hindu citizens. 

Rice allocations per venue were raised from 500 kilograms to 600 kilograms, alongside a financial allocation of Tk 4.41 lakh disbursed for each parliamentary constituency.

President of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad, Shri Gouranga Babu, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Food Minister Afroza Khanam for their continuous support to minority communities. Local beneficiaries, including Deepali Rani, 75, from Manikganj Sadar and Anita Sarkar, 77, from Saturia upazila, expressed joy upon receiving the gifts.

Presided over by Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Najmun Ara Sultana, the event was attended by senior administrative officials, political leaders, journalists, and local residents.

Following the distribution ceremony, Food Minister Afroza Khanam visited several puja venues across Manikganj Sadar and Saturia upazilas, including Dautia Bazar Sarbajanin Durga Mandir, Ghona Sadarpur Chhota Kalibari Mandir, Bangladesh Hat Sarbajanin Durga Mandir, Saturia Sarbajanin Harisabha Durga Mandir, Baliati Chinmoy Sangha Durga Mandir, and Ramakrishna Mission Temple. During her visits, she exchanged festive greetings, reviewed security measures, and presented financial grants to each temple committee.
