
Former MP Laila Parvin Senjuti arrested

Satkhira Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested Laila Parveen Sejuti, a former MP for the reserved women's seat of the 12th National Parliament. She was arrested from her home in Radhanagar, Itagachha Hatermor area, Satkhira city, at around 3 am on Tuesday.
Laila Parveen Senjuti was nominated by the Awami League as an MP from the reserved women's seat of the 12th National Parliament. She was the Education and Human Resources Affairs Secretary of the Satkhira District Awami League and the Member Secretary of the Satkhira District Muktijoddha Sontan Command. At the same time, she was serving as the acting editor of the Daily Patradoot newspaper published from Satkhira. She was also serving as the headmaster of Bangabandhu Peshavittik Secondary School in Tala Upazila.
Former MP Laila Parveen Senjuti is the daughter of freedom fighter and former provincial council member (MPA) Shaheed S. M. Alauddin of Mithabari village in Nagarghata union of Tala upazila of Satkhira. S. M. Alauddin was shot dead by an assailant on June 19, 1996, while working at the Dainik Patradut office.
Satkhira Police Superintendent Mohammad Monirul Islam confirmed the arrest and said that he was arrested in a case filed at Satkhira Sada Police Station under the Special Powers Act. She was sent to jail through the court.
