Fortunately, we have a Home Minister who provides services to all ministries:  Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Md. Abdul Qaiyum , Moulvibazar

Opposition leader of the 13th National Parliament and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "We are fortunate to have a Home Minister. He provides services in all ministries. His prime duty is to look after the people of his own ministry. He has neither controlled drugs nor weapons, nor has he been able to restore order in society. There is no visible improvement. Whoever is in charge of the Home Ministry and important people in the government say that law and order is better than before. I have not understood till today what this better than before criterion is."

Opposition leader in parliament and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP made these remarks at a pre-scheduled meeting with journalists at the Moon Hall of Moulvibazar Circuit House on Saturday (October 24) at 11 am.

Talking to reporters at the meeting, he highlighted his party's position regarding the upcoming local government elections and said, "I am not seeing good signs yet regarding the local elections. A retired BNP cadre has been appointed as the Additional Secretary of the Election Commission. Why should a party man be brought here? The Chief Whip of the National Assembly, who is in charge of the discipline of the National Assembly, went to his area and said that no concession will be given to the BNP candidate who does not win. It is a matter of shame.

The meeting was chaired by District Jamaat Ameer Engineer Md. Shahed Ali and presented by Secretary Md. Yamir Amir Ali. Central Assistant Secretary General Adv Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair and Habiganj District Jamaat Secretary Kazi Mohsin Ahmed were present.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, newspapers are the mirror of society. The faults and shortcomings of society are seen in their mirror. After independence, in 1975, there was an attack on the media.

Earlier in the morning, when opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman arrived at Moulvibazar Circuit House from Sylhet, he was welcomed by District Ameer Engineer Md. Shahed Ali, Habiganj District Ameer Maulana Kazi Makhlisur Rahman, Moulvibazar District Secretary Md. Yamir Ali, Habiganj District Secretary Kazi Mohsin Ahmed, Chhatra Shibir District President Farid Uddin and other party leaders on behalf of the district Jamaat.

Then, a police contingent at the Circuit House premises provided a guard of honor to the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

This is the first visit of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition, to his home district Moulvibazar town after the 13th National Parliament elections. The visit of the Jamaat Ameer was met with great enthusiasm and excitement among the local leaders and workers.

Earlier, Assistant Secretary General Adv Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Sylhet Metropolitan Ameer Md. Fakhrul Islam, Moulvibazar District Ameer Engineer Md. Shahed Ali, Sylhet Metropolitan Nayeb Ameer Dr. Nurul Islam Babul, Sylhet District Nayeb Ameer Prof  Abdul Hannan, Sylhet Metropolitan Secretary Md. Shahjahan Ali, Sylhet District Secretary Md.
