GAU holds workshop on ' Intellectual Property Rights and Commercialization of Agricultural Innovations '

A training workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) to enhance the capacity of researchers and relevant stakeholders in protecting research-based innovations, ensuring proper intellectual property management, and commercializing agricultural technologies.
Organized by the university’s Technology Transfer Office with funding from the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project, the workshop took place at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the seminar room of Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
Prof Dr. JKM Mostafizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of GAU, attended the programme as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Md. Shafiul Islam Afrad, Treasurer of the university and Sub-Project Manager (SPM) of the HEAT Project, chaired the event. GAU Proctor Prof Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, along with relevant faculty members and officials of the project, was also present.In the inaugural session, Prof Dr. Farhana Yasmin, Director of the university’s Outreach Centre and a faculty member of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, delivered the welcome address.
Following the welcome speech, the Vice-Chancellor formally inaugurated the workshop through his opening remarks.
Professor Dr. JKM Mostafizur Rahman said that the true success of university research and innovation could only be achieved when research-based knowledge and technologies were utilized for the welfare of society.
The training sessions were conducted by Md. Habibur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks; Prof Dr. Foyez Ahmed Prodhan, Assistant Sub-Project Manager (ASPM) of the sub-project; and Dr. Muhammad Ziaul Haque.
