
GM Quader, wife Sharifa among 19 sued in Lalmonirhat

A case has been filed in Lalmonirhat against Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader, also known as GM Quader, his wife Sharifa Quader, and 17 others.
More than seven and a half years after the incident, this case was filed against the Jatiya Party chairman, former minister GM Quader, and his wife, among others.
BNP leader Khalilur Rahman filed the case at the Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station on Monday.
Plaintiff Khalilur Rahman is the son of Ahor Uddin from the Sadutari area of Lalmonirhat Municipality. He serves as the senior vice president of ward number 5 of Lalmonirhat Municipality BNP.
According to the case statement, during the 11th National Parliamentary Election on December 30, 2018, the plaintiff was serving as a polling agent for the BNP-nominated candidate at the Lalmonirhat Nesaria Kamil Madrasa voting center. Upon learning this, Jatiya Party activists allegedly came to his house the night before the vote and threatened him not to go to the polling center.
The next day, while the plaintiff was on duty at the center, it is alleged that under the directive of Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader and his wife Sharifa Quader, the other accused attacked him with sticks, beating him indiscriminately. Locals later rescued him and gave him initial treatment.
Nearly seven and a half years later, the plaintiff filed this case.
GM Quader was named as the prime accused in the complaint, which also included 18 other named individuals and 20–30 unidentified persons. The Lalmonirhat Sadar Police registered the complaint as a regular case—Case No. 3, dated 2/6/25.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station OC Mohammad Nur Nabi said, the complaint has been registered as a regular case.
