The first Hifzul Quran competition and prize distribution ceremony organized by the Shibbir Ahmad Welfare Trust was held on Saturday at Gangajal Alif Community Center in Zakiganj upazila of Sylhet.
Students from various Hifz divisions of Sultanpur Union and different madrasas of the country participated in the competition.
The competition began at 10:30 AM. The judges were Hafiz Maulana Abdul Hannan, Imam and Khatib of Sylhet Shahi Eidgah Miror Jame Mosque; Hafiz Maulana Nazrul Islam, teacher of Zakiganj Bilerbond Hafizia Madrasa; and Hafiz Maulana Habibur Rahman.
The prize distribution ceremony was held after Zuhr prayer. The event began with the recitation of the Quran by Maulana Anharul Alam. The program was presided over by local social worker Ahmad Monsur Alam and conducted by journalist Tarek Ahmad.
The chief guest was Mufti Abul Hasan, Imam and Khatib of Zakiganj Central Jame Mosque. Among the special guests were former president of the Sylhet District Secondary Teachers Association Md. Kutub Uddin, Assistant Professor of Gangajal Hasania Senior Madrasa Abul Kalam Azad, Imam of Khadiman Jame Mosque Maulana Mustafa Ahmad, Nazmuddin Mahmud, Abu Sufyan, Abdus Samad, Kabir Ahmad, and Imran Ahmad.
3rd – Yahia Ahmad (Jamia Abdul Ghaffar Mamorkhami Madrasa),
4th – Md. Rakib Raja (Hazrat Shahabuddin Hafizia Qawmi Madrasa),
5th – Abdullah Al Mehedi (Thanabazar Hifzul Quran Madrasa).
All participating students were also awarded certificates and special prizes.
Chief guest Mufti Abul Hasan said, “This competition will encourage students to engage with the Quran and help develop their moral values.”
Other speakers expressed gratitude to the founder of the Shibbir Ahmad Welfare Trust, Shibbir Ahmad, and his family, saying, “Because of their generosity and initiative, today’s competition has been successful. They are tirelessly working to advance Islamic education among the youth, which is essential for the development and prosperity of society. Their sacrifice and philanthropic initiative will be an inspiration for the next generation.”
The program concluded with a prayer (munajat) led by the chief guest.
