Indian citizen arrested in Juri

An Indian citizen has been arrested for illegally entering Bangladesh during a BGB operation in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar. The arrested person is Md. Rahul Uddin, son of Gois Mia of Bhagyapur Panch village of Dharmanagar police station in Tripura state, India.

The arrested person is involved in Indian smuggling and human trafficking, BGB said.

On Monday based on secret information, the Indian citizen was arrested from the house of Mohammad Ismail Hossain's son Raju Ahmed in Konagaon village of Fultala Union of the upazila.

According to BGB sources, the house of local Bangladeshi citizen Md. Raju Ahmed, who lives in the interior of Bangladesh approximately 100 yards from the border pillar 1819/12-S of Fultala BOP's responsible area, was arrested on the basis of news that he was hiding. However, the owner of the house, Md. Raju Ahmed, fled after sensing the presence of the BGB during the operation.

According to BGB sources, the arrested Indian citizen has been involved in smuggling and human trafficking at various times. Indian citizen who have been arrested for a long time have been participating and aiding illegal border crossings and smuggling.

BGB 52 Battalion (Bianibazar) Captain Lt. Colonel Mehdi Hasan PPM confirmed the matter said, A police case has been filed against the Indian national for illegal entry and human trafficking.
