With the aim of fostering ethics and integrity among students, a unique initiative called “Integrity Star” has been launched.
There are no shopkeepers or attendants. Students collect educational materials and food items at the price they deem appropriate and deposit the money into a box. There is no supervision—trust forms the core principle.
The Integrity Stars were inaugurated at Agor Anibarn Education Center and Barmari High School, located within the Durgapur Upazila of Netrakona.
On Tuesday, with funding from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Mymensingh region, the two Integrity Stars were officially launched. The inauguration was led by Moniruzzaman, Director of the ACC Mymensingh Division, as the chief guest.
The discussion session was chaired by Shahidul Islam, Vice-President of the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee. Other speakers included Ranjit Kumar Karmakar, Deputy Director of the ACC Mymensingh District Office, Deputy Assistant Director Shahadat Hasan, Press Club President Tabarak Hasan Khakon, Upazila Academic Supervisor Muhammad Nasir Uddin, Head Teachers Md. Abdul Bark, Md. Moshiur Rahman, and Barmari Campus Manager Alison Ghagra. Teachers and students were also present.
Students expressed that this unique shop gives them an opportunity to demonstrate their honesty. They can freely take notebooks, pens, or other materials according to their needs. This shop is not only a place for collecting items but also a test of integrity. They pledged not to engage in wrongdoing or support injustice and emphasized collective effort in building an honest society.
The chief guest said, “‘Integrity Star’ is not just a shop; it is a new kind of ethical classroom for the next generation, where trust, self-discipline, and moral awareness are cultivated. From student life itself, moral education will make them self-reliant and honest in the future.
ACC’s initiative will play a major role in shaping society, and everyone is urged to work together for this cause.”
