It is necessary to end existing racial discrimination in CHT : Rangamati Citizens' Council

The leaders of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Citizens' Council, Rangamati district branch, have warned that if the ongoing recruitment process of the Health Department is not canceled by June 30 and all recruitment and scholarship distribution under the Rangamati Hill District Council is not ensured based on population, a strong movement will be launched against this discriminatory policy of the Hill District Councils.
The press conference was held at a local restaurant in Rangamati town on Thursday at 11 am demanding the cancellation of the ongoing health department recruitment, the removal of racial discrimination in the three hill district councils, the prioritization of tribal candidates in recruitment, and the distribution of educational scholarships based on population.
Present at the press conference were Mohammad Solaiman, President of the Nagorik Parishad Rangamati District Committee, Maulana Abu Bakar Siddique, Senior Vice President of the Nagorik Parishad Rangamati District Branch, Vice President Mohammad Azam, General Secretary of the Women's Council Morsheda Akhter, Member Md. Hannan, and other leaders of the Nagorik Parishad District Committee, along with local media workers.
Mohammad Solaiman, the president of the Rangamati District Committee of the Citizens' Council, said in a written statement: Although the government issued a notification on July 23, 2024 to ensure merit and reserved quota system in all appointments, it is not being followed. Even now, in the spirit of anti-discrimination, even during the interim government, the three Hill District Councils are still pursuing the policy of discrimination as before, giving priority to tribals in all appointments, depriving candidates from other communities, including the larger Bengali community, of their fair rights.
It is necessary to end these racial discriminations prevailing in the Chittagong Hill Tracts at any cost.
