Jaima Rahman's birthday:  548 students get bicycles, 4,000 people  receive eye care in Bogura

Md Rakel Islam, Bogura

Not a cake-cutting celebration, but gifts to students on the occasion of their birthday and medical services for the helpless - this is how State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam MP celebrated Barrister Jaima Rahman's birthday with an exceptional initiative.

On Sunday, she handed over pink bicycles to 548 meritorious students from Shibganj and Mokamtala upazilas of Bogura. In addition, 1,500 students were given mugs with Jaima Rahman's photo.

The program was organized at Shibganj Pilot High School grounds at 11 am on Sunday (October 25). The initiative, taken on the occasion of the birthday of Barrister Zaima Rahman, daughter of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman, aims to promote women's education, make it easier for girls to travel to school and encourage them to study. The organizers hope that getting bicycles will reduce the suffering of students in commuting and will help increase regular school attendance.

On the same day, at 12 noon, eye care and cataract surgery activities were conducted for the second day at the Aliarhat Rokeya-Chattar High School grounds in Shibganj. According to the organizers, about 4,000 people were brought under the service in the two days. On the first day, 2,000 people were provided free eye treatment in Saidpur Union of Mokamtala Upazila.

At the bicycle distribution ceremony, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam said that Barrister Jaima Rahman's birthday celebration was also celebrated during the fascist Hasina regime. At that time, various humanitarian programs including prayer mahfil, food distribution to orphans, medical services and eye treatment were taken. This time too, this initiative has been taken for the welfare of students.

He further said that for the well-being of the Zia family, lunch has been distributed among the helpless people in the Dewantola shrine area every Friday for the past 20 years. The purpose of these initiatives is to stand by the people and work for their welfare.

Regarding the bicycle distribution, Mir Shahe Alam said, "The main goal of this initiative is the development of women's education. Today's students are the future of tomorrow."

Emphasizing on ensuring a safe environment for students to study, the State Minister said, "Everyone must be aware of preventing child marriage and eve-teasing." The meeting discussed this issue and took necessary decisions. We must work together so that girls can travel to school safely and continue their studies. The main objective of this initiative is to stand by students and advance the progress of women's education, he said.

In his speech at the eye treatment service program, he said to the Jamaat, they practice politics of deception. Those who were deceived by them regret it today. They danced to the beat of drums with hats on their heads for votes, now that the elections are over - they were no longer seen in the puja mandap. They no longer show the greed of Muslims for heaven. Although they capitalize on religion in politics, they do not even think about the Imam, Muazzin, and Khadem. Yet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has thought about them.

Your son Tarique Rahman has taken up various programs including family cards, farmer cards, tree plantation, health services at the doorsteps of the people, and canal digging. He also said, "I want to remove the eye problems of those in my constituency. Free eye care will be provided to everyone in phases."

UNO Ziaur Rahman,  state minister's wife Mir Laboni Akhter, Ruposhi BD Group MD Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto, his wife Mir Faria Tabassum, the state minister's daughter Mir Samara Sunat, and others. Later, prayers were offered for the health and longevity of Zia's family, including Barrister Zaima Rahman.
