Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Assistant Secretary General Md. Rafiqul Islam Khan said, necessary reforms should be made before local elections and then national elections should be held. No election under the party government in the last 54 years has been impartial.

He said these as the chief guest at the ward responsible conference organized by Gazipur District Jamaat on Friday morning.

Rafiqul Islam said, "All Islamic parties in Bangladesh, scholars-ulamas, Pir-Mashaykhs, people who like Islam are on the way to unification. Jamaat will make maximum concessions for this unity, God willing. This time that unity will happen. Discussions are underway among all Islamic parties, this time the ballot box of Islamic parties will be one."

He said, "We have said that local government elections should be held under the caretaker government. This demand is not only of Jamaat, but of the people of the entire Bangladesh."

The Jamaat leader said, “Everyone involved in the three fake elections, starting from the field level, must be brought to justice. We have said that they must be arrested very quickly. The laundered money must be returned. We appeal to the government to quickly complete the genocide trial.”

Rafiqul Islam said, “Those who are allies of fascism and are involved in conspiring to destabilize the government from inside and outside must also be identified, arrested and brought to justice.”

The conference was inaugurated by Jamaat District Ameer Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, and Central Organizing Secretary Dr. Maulana Samiul Haque Farooqui, Central Shura Member and Metropolitan Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Md. Khairul Hasan, and former President of the Central Chhatra Shibir Md. Salauddin Ayubi spoke at the inaugural ceremony.
