Kuakata celebrates World Environment Day with distribution of fruits, saplings

World Environment Day was celebrated in Kuakata with a colourful programme , centered around the theme, "No More Plastic Pollution, Now is the Time to Stop ' on Wednesday.
Kuakata Municipality and the non-governmental development organization BRAC jointly organized a procession to observe the day. The procession marched along the Kuakata main road, reached the beach for a clean-up drive, and concluded at the Kuakata Municipality office. During the event, Kuakata Municipal Administrator Md. Yasin Sadeq planted a tree sapling.
Following the procession, a discussion meeting was held at the Kuakata Municipality premises. The Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Kalapara and Kuakata Municipal Administrator, Md. Yasin Sadeq, was the chief guest at the discussion. As part of the program, 5,000 fruit and forest tree saplings of various species were distributed among school students and local residents after the discussion.
Md. Khalilur Rahman, Headmaster of Kuakata Bangabandhu Secondary School, teacher Mainul Islam Mannan, other teachers, students, media personnel, and leaders of volunteer organizations were also present.
