On the day after the inauguration of the much -awaited 'Maulana Bhasani Bridge' built on the Teesta river on the Haripur -Chilmari connection road in Sundarganj of Gaibandha, the lampost has been stolen.
The entire bridge was submerged in the dark as his power supply was stolen at the bridge's lamppost. Vehicles and pedestrians are at risk. The fear of the accident has increased several times.
Gaibandha LGED Executive Engineer Uzzal Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Friday noon.
"We can know the matter at night," he said. At one point the day after the inauguration, the miscreants stole the electric of the bridge's lamppost. We will identify the abusers and take strict legal action against them. At the same time, new power connection will begin. Besides, constant police security is being considered on the bridge.
Earlier on Thursday night, the bridge was submerged in the dark. Many passengers and locals took pictures of the lights off and spread through social media. The lamppost's picture of his cut off on Facebook went viral.
Pedestrians, drivers and locals said that the bridge has become difficult since evening due to lack of light. The fear of the accident is constantly being crossed.
They claim that the bridge should be illuminated again with a new power connection to the lamppost in the fastest time. At the same time, strict security measures should be taken to prevent such theft or destruction in the future.

OC of the Sundarganj Police Station Abdul Hakim Azad said that if the authorities received complaints about theft of the authorities, it would be investigated seriously. Strict legal action will be taken against them by identifying the miscreants.
