Md Hossain (Hathazari) Chottogram

A 10-bed trauma center was constructed at Hathazari in Chattogram to provide emergency treatment to people injured in road accidents. When the trauma center was built during the Awami League government, the medical services could not be started till the end.

Since the opening of the trauma center, no doctors and hospital furniture have been provided here. These buildings have been abandoned for several years.

The intention was to build a trauma center on the side of two highways between Chittagong-Rangamati Khagrachari, in case of an accident, to take the injured there quickly and give treatment, so that it is possible to save lives. Trauma center infrastructure is deteriorating due to lack of use. The authorities have not appointed manpower yet.

Doctors said that if at least 4/6 doctors, 8/10 nurses and pharmacists were appointed here, it could have been started.

The people of north Chattogram including Hathazari are deprived of medical services due to non-operation of trauma center. When the critical patients injured in road accidents and broken bones come to Upazila Hospital, they are sent to Sadar Hospital after first treatment. However, an orthopedic consultant is providing medical services in the upazila hospital. An orthopedic surgeon also deals with orthopedic trauma, oncology (cancer), sports medicine.

It was inaugurated on 4 April 2021. No manpower has been appointed yet. No necessary equipment. Due to these reasons, this hospital could not be opened yet. The trauma center under implementation by the Directorate of Health Engineers is being constructed (a) 3 storey hospital building with 5 storey base. (b) Consultant/Medical Officer Dormitory with 3 floors including 5 floors, 2 units per floor, total 10 units. (c) 5-storey staff dormitory with 5 floors (2 per floor, total 10 units). The trauma center will provide medical services to the people of Hathazari, Raujan, Fatikchari in North Chattogram . Accidents are happening on the highways of North Chattogram almost every day.

According to Upazila Health Complex sources, It cannot be started due to shortage of medical manpower.
