BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said that we do not want anything other than water from India. We do not want any water, we do not want alms. We want the water of 54 rivers as we are due. We have to pay our dues. If not today, we will have to tell you tomorrow.
He said this in his speech as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony organized at Shapla Chattar in the city on Sunday afternoon  before the mass march demanding the implementation of the Teesta Agreement and the master plan in Rangpur. Mirza Abbas said, water can never be a weapon of death, it cannot be a weapon of war. Only India has shown the world that they are using water as a weapon of war and death. He said, we have many things from India. We have many ports from India. There is a Mongla port, there is one in Chittagong. It is time for us to calculate these. We have to give Teesta water. We want Farakka water. We have to give water wherever water is needed. We are just waiting for the government. The government that was in power a few days ago did not calculate these things with India out of a desire to stay in power. BNP said, we would have got our fair share of water long ago. If a terrorist government like Hasina had not come. They could not have said anything to India about this water. Mirza Abbas praised the organization of the movement on the Teesta river and said he promised to stay with this movement until the Teesta movement is implemented. The inauguration ceremony of the mass march was presided over by the Chief Coordinator of the Teesta River Protection Movement and BNP's Rangpur Divisional Organizing Secretary Principal Asadul Habib Dulu. Among others, BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Convener Shamsuzzaman Samu, District BNP Convener Saiful Islam, Member Secretary Anisur Rahman Laku, and BNP leader Emdadul Haque Bhorsa spoke. The march was attended by people from different classes and professions in Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, and Kurigram districts.
