The girl who missed the first day's HSC exam due to mother's illness may be allowed to appear in the tests under special arrangement, authorities said on Friday.
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations began on Thursday across the country. However, a student assigned to the Government Bangla College examination centre in Mirpur, Dhaka, missed the first exam reportedly after being delayed while taking her ailing mother to the hospital.
The incident, which sparked public sympathy, has drawn the attention of education authorities.
Education Adviser Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar told reporters on Friday that they are looking into the matter with utmost importance on humanitarian grounds.
“Efforts are underway to find a solution regarding the missed Bangla First Paper exam in line with public examination laws and regulations. We stand in solidarity with her during this difficult time and urge them not to lose hope,” he added.
